China Thinks to Charge Cross-Border Internet Traffic

China plans to measure all cross-border internet traffic and will allow all internet service providers to charge on the metered volume, recent BBC news reported. Though this move will need international agreement, it is getting discussed in united nations bodies which is responsible for standardization of internet. This proposal will allow countries to have additional income which receive no payment for using their lines.

 China placed the plan to ITU which the international governing body of telecom. In the plan, Border Gateway Patrol (BGP) routers has been proposed to collect traffic flow data to be used for bilateral billing system.
